VERSION 1.0 · EFFECTIVE AUGUST 21, 2026
CrossCheck Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the CrossCheck desktop app stores and what McNile Inc. receives.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the CrossCheck desktop application and the CrossCheck website published by McNile Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada (“McNile,” “we,” or “us”). A purchase made through Gumroad is also subject to Gumroad's own privacy practices.
2. Project data stored by CrossCheck
CrossCheck stores imported crossing data, values you enter or edit, application and project settings, journals or change history, exports, and backups in local folders you select or create. CrossCheck does not provide file attachments or cloud project storage.
3. Where project data goes
CrossCheck has no project-data cloud service and does not intentionally transmit your project content to McNile. We cannot access or remotely recover the contents of your local project folders. Files may still be synchronized by an operating-system, storage, backup, or cloud service that you independently configure.
4. No application telemetry
The Early Access release does not include McNile-operated analytics, behavioural telemetry, crash reporting, advertising tracking, or voice processing. If you contact support, you choose what diagnostic information or project material to share.
5. Purchase and support information
Gumroad processes purchases and may provide McNile with order details such as purchaser name, email address, transaction information, product, and refund status. McNile receives the emails and information you send to support. We use this information to deliver the product, provide updates and support, prevent misuse, process refunds, and meet legal or accounting obligations.
6. Personal and confidential information in projects
A project may contain contact, landowner, operational, or other sensitive information. You control this information and are responsible for having authority to collect and use it, limiting access, and complying with applicable privacy, contractual, and records-management obligations.
7. Security and encryption
CrossCheck does not encrypt its project data. Protect the computer, project folders, and backup locations with appropriate device encryption, access controls, physical security, and organizational policies. No security measure can eliminate all risk.
8. Retention and deletion
Project data remains in your local folders until you delete it. Uninstalling CrossCheck is not intended to delete project folders or backups. McNile retains purchase and support records only as reasonably needed for the purposes above and applicable legal obligations. To request deletion of support information, contact us; some transaction records may need to be retained.
9. Website hosting
The hosting provider may process ordinary request information such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of access to deliver and secure this site. The website does not intentionally set advertising or behavioural analytics cookies.
